At 5:10 PM PST today, a lone gunman attempted to storm the National Assembly in Mexico City. In an exchange of gunfire, one security guard and the shooter were shot and critically wounded. The assailant was subdued and apprehended and is currently receiving medical treatment. Reports state that both are in critical condition.
Senate adjourned ten minutes later, and Mexican officials state that had the gunman started shooting at the time of adjournment, the list of critically wounded would be substantially longer.
