Reports from sources on the ground suggest that Vigilante groups have moved El Chapo to a “secure location” and increased his security. Given El Chapo’s almost miraculous escapes from maximum security prisons, it is difficult to believe that poorly organized and untrained civilians turned vigilantes could possibly maintain control of the drug lord. The high profile criminal is a magnet for violence, with the United States, the Mexican government, Interpol and various Cartels all fighting to capture him.
“The Vigilantes need to turn over El Chapo to Interpol or the Mexican government immediately,” said Jose Guerrera, a criminal law expert at Tijuana University. “The Mexican administration needs to lay down the law.”
