Mexico City, Mexico
The recent weeks in Mexico have not been ones to be fondly remembered. Earthquakes and an increase in cartel violence have thrown the Mexican government into overdrive to maintain the country’s confidence in the government.
Secretary of National Defence, Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda, was working at one of the distribution centers helping to hand out clean water. He held a press conference at the location, stating that troops continue to be sent to “distribute food, water, and medical aid to those affected by the earthquake.” He further stated “the Mexican people have the full support of the national government and army and [the government will continue to] to provide the basic living necessities.” He openly encouraged all those affected to come in an organized and orderly fashion to distribution centres to receive aid. He ended the press conference with “The Mexican army is proud to serve its people.”
