In a one-one exclusive interview with CNN, President Enrique Pena Nieto issued his and his administration’s statement on the recent shooting at the National Assembly.
“Mexico is rallying around the fellow people in the time of this hardship. I the President do not know why the shooter decided to attack his parliament. But I do know he wasn’t born wanting to do this.”
When asked to verify the identity of the shooter, President Nieto did confirm that it was school teacher Manual Pereza. Currently, the Mexican government does not suspect either the local cartels or vigilante groups.
In an attempt to ensure the safety of its’ citizens, the Mexican government is meeting with allied partners in the United States and Interpol to respond “thoroughly and rapidly”.
